The Monsignor of the Catholic Diocese of Byumba Visited the Nyagatare Juvenile Correctional Facility

During the visit, Monsignor Papias celebrated Holy Mass for the children at the Facility, delivering messages aimed at restoring their hope in life. He reminded them that, although they had committed offenses and faced legal consequences, they remained children of God—and that He is always ready to welcome them back whenever they repent for their actions.

He urged the children(inmates) to make the most of the educational opportunities provided by the country while at the Correctional Facility and to apply themselves diligently to their studies; he also commended the students who had recently passed their national examinations with good results.

Following the Mass, His Excellency Monsignor Papias Musengamana and the accompanying youth group spent time socializing with the children at the Nyagatare Juvenile Correctional Facility, sharing a meal and refreshments with them. In addition to providing food and beverages to the inmates, they presented gifts consisting of various clothing items and hygiene supplies, such as lotions, soap, and toilet paper.

He commended the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) especially the Nyagatare Juvenile Correctional Facility for the care shown to the inmates, demonstrating that despite their confinement, they remain as valued as any other children in the country.
